AI Content Repurposing

AI Content Repurposing is an independent automation project designed to simplify the process of adapting existing articles into content for multiple communication channels. Built with n8n, Gemini, and Google Sheets, the workflow retrieves article content and uses Gemini to generate drafts tailored to different formats, including LinkedIn posts, short-form social media content, and email communications. Rather than requiring separate content-generation processes for each channel, the workflow coordinates source retrieval, AI-powered content transformation, and structured output storage. The generated drafts are organized in Google Sheets, providing a central location for reviewing and working with content intended for different platforms. The project demonstrates how LLM-powered content generation can be integrated into a repeatable business workflow using existing automation tools. This is an independent technical case study, not a verified paid client engagement or production content-publishing system. No audience growth, engagement improvements, or content-production time savings are claimed.

Context

Project context.

Publishing content across several channels often requires adapting the same underlying information into different formats. An article that works well as a long-form resource may need to be shortened, reorganized, or rewritten before it can be used as a LinkedIn post, a short social media update, or an email. Although these formats can communicate similar ideas, each has different expectations around length, structure, and presentation. Preparing separate versions manually can involve repeatedly reading the source article, identifying its main points, and drafting content for each channel. AI Content Repurposing explores how this process can be coordinated through an automated workflow. I developed an n8n automation that retrieves article content, sends it to Gemini for transformation, and organizes the generated drafts in Google Sheets. The workflow produces content for three communication formats: LinkedIn, short-form social media, and email. Google Sheets serves as the destination for the generated outputs, keeping the different content versions organized and accessible. The project focuses on content preparation and draft generation rather than automatically publishing material to external platforms.

Project setting

The workflow was created to demonstrate AI-assisted content repurposing using existing automation services rather than a custom content-management application. n8n handles the orchestration, Gemini generates content variations, and Google Sheets stores the results. The distinction between content generation and publication is important. The workflow prepares drafts for multiple channels but is not presented as automatically posting to LinkedIn, publishing social media updates, or sending marketing emails. Generated content may still require editorial review for accuracy, tone, relevance, and suitability before publication. The project is a self-initiated automation demonstration, and no client adoption or measured business results are attributed to it.

Problem space

  • Reusing an article across different communication channels requires additional content preparation.
  • LinkedIn posts, short-form social content, and email communications have different formatting and writing requirements.
  • Manually producing each variation introduces repetitive writing work.
  • Teams need to preserve the main ideas of the source article while adapting its presentation.
  • Generated content needs to be organized so individual channel-specific drafts can be reviewed.
  • LLM responses must be structured into usable outputs rather than left as disconnected text.
  • Connecting source retrieval, content generation, and output storage manually creates unnecessary workflow steps.

Target users

  • Content marketers repurposing articles across multiple channels.
  • Small marketing teams managing recurring content production.
  • Business owners maintaining social media and email communications.
  • Content creators adapting long-form articles into shorter formats.
  • Marketing agencies preparing platform-specific content drafts.

Contribution

My contribution.

I independently designed and developed AI Content Repurposing using n8n, Gemini, and Google Sheets. My work covered article content retrieval, workflow orchestration, AI-powered content transformation, generation of channel-specific drafts, and structured organization of results.

My contribution focused on connecting the individual steps involved in turning existing articles into reusable marketing content. Instead of treating each channel as a separate content-generation task, the workflow uses the same source article to prepare multiple variations. I used n8n to coordinate the process, Gemini to transform the source material, and Google Sheets to organize the generated drafts. The implementation demonstrates how a language model can become part of a practical content-production workflow without requiring the development of a separate publishing application.

  1. Workflow Architecture

Designed and built an n8n workflow connecting article retrieval, AI-powered content generation, and structured output storage. Organized these activities into a repeatable process for transforming existing articles into content suitable for multiple channels.

  2. Article Content Retrieval

Implemented the source-content retrieval stage that obtains article information for processing. Connected the retrieved material to the AI generation stage so Gemini could work from existing article content rather than generating unrelated topics.

  3. Gemini-Powered Content Transformation

Integrated Gemini to transform the retrieved article content into different communication formats. Used the source material as the basis for producing variations appropriate to the intended channels.

  4. Multi-Channel Draft Generation

Developed the workflow to produce three categories of content: LinkedIn posts, short-form social media drafts, and email drafts. The implementation demonstrates how the same source material can support different content formats through AI-assisted transformation.

  5. Structured Content Output

Organized the generated content into structured results that could be processed by the workflow and stored consistently. This separates individual content variations and makes them easier to retrieve after generation.

  6. Google Sheets Integration

Connected Google Sheets as the output destination for the generated content. Archived the structured drafts so the different versions could be accessed and reviewed outside the automation workflow.

Scope of ownership

The project combines conventional workflow automation with language-model-based content generation. n8n coordinates the connected services, while Gemini performs the writing and content adaptation tasks. Google Sheets acts as a lightweight content repository, making the generated material accessible without requiring users to inspect individual n8n executions. The workflow is an independent demonstration focused on producing and organizing drafts. It is not presented as a complete content publishing, scheduling, or performance analytics platform.

Implementation

Technical breakdown.

AI Content Repurposing uses n8n as its orchestration layer, Gemini as the content-generation model, and Google Sheets for storing structured outputs. The workflow begins by retrieving article content, passes the source material through AI-powered transformation, and produces drafts for LinkedIn, short-form social media, and email. The generated results are organized and archived in Google Sheets.

  1. Article Content Retrieval

    • n8n
    • HTTP Requests

Implemented an article retrieval stage within the n8n workflow.

This stage obtains the source material used by Gemini to generate content variations.

Keeping the original article as the input allows the workflow to focus on adapting existing information instead of generating content without a source.

The retrieved material is passed to the subsequent AI processing stage.

    • Article content retrieval.
    • HTTP-based content access.
    • Preparation of source material.
    • Transfer of retrieved content to the generation stage.
  2. Gemini Content Generation

    • Gemini API
    • n8n

Integrated Gemini into the workflow to transform article content into alternative formats.

The language model uses the retrieved source material to generate drafts intended for different communication channels.

This stage handles the writing and adaptation work, while n8n coordinates the surrounding retrieval and storage operations.

The resulting content is intended to serve as draft material that can be reviewed before external publication.

    • Gemini API integration.
    • AI-assisted content transformation.
    • Source-based draft generation.
    • Generation of channel-specific variations.
    • Integration of LLM outputs into an automated workflow.
  3. Multi-Channel Content Repurposing

    • Gemini API
    • n8n

Developed the workflow to produce content in three distinct formats.

LinkedIn drafts provide a professional social media format, short-form social drafts present condensed versions of the source material, and email drafts adapt the content for email communication.

The workflow generates these variations from the article content, allowing one source to be used across several content-preparation tasks.

The implementation focuses on preparing drafts, not automatically distributing content through the destination platforms.

    • LinkedIn post drafts.
    • Short-form social media drafts.
    • Email content drafts.
    • Multiple content variations from one article.
    • Channel-specific content preparation.
  4. Structured AI Output Processing

    • n8n
    • Gemini API
    • JSON

Organized the generated content into structured outputs suitable for downstream processing.

The workflow distinguishes the different content formats so they can be stored as separate, identifiable results rather than an undifferentiated block of generated text.

This makes the output easier to archive and retrieve through Google Sheets.

The structured format connects the language-model response to the conventional data-handling requirements of the workflow.

    • Structured content outputs.
    • Separation of generated content formats.
    • Organization of channel-specific drafts.
    • Preparation of results for spreadsheet storage.
    • Connection between AI generation and downstream automation.
  5. Google Sheets Content Archive

    • Google Sheets
    • n8n
    • JSON

Integrated Google Sheets as the destination for generated content.

The workflow archives the structured output, providing a centralized location for the LinkedIn, short-form social, and email drafts.

Using a spreadsheet keeps the generated material accessible without introducing a dedicated application or database interface.

The stored content can serve as a starting point for editorial review and subsequent content preparation.

    • Google Sheets integration.
    • Structured storage of generated drafts.
    • Organization of multiple content formats.
    • Centralized access to generated content.
    • Separation of content generation from publication.
  6. End-to-End Workflow Orchestration

    • n8n
    • Gemini API
    • Google Sheets
    • HTTP Requests

Connected article retrieval, Gemini content generation, output organization, and Google Sheets storage into an n8n workflow.

Each integrated service has a specific responsibility.

Article retrieval supplies the source material, Gemini generates content variations, and Google Sheets preserves the resulting drafts.

n8n coordinates these stages so the process can be executed as a connected automation rather than a series of disconnected manual tasks.

    • n8n workflow orchestration.
    • Article retrieval integration.
    • Gemini content generation.
    • Multi-format output processing.
    • Google Sheets archival.
    • Connected content preparation workflow.
